Abstract :
An adaptive controller without the constraint of knowing the order of the plant and with a minimum order model that adequately represents the plant is presented by an example. Simulation test results show the validity of the algorithm. The algorithm uses recursive least squares in determining the plant parameters and order. In the present work, the order determination stops as the optimum order is obtained, but is is possible to continue the model order determination process and trace any change in the plant order during operation
