Abstract
This paper describes a method to improve the performance of autonomous electrical machine generators by increasing their power indexes. This method involves slot optimization based on the visualization of the magnetic flux pattern to allow the reduction of the slot leakage and to keep the slot´s cross-sectional area and flux density constant in the teeth and yoke. Results show that the decrease in the core´s back reduced the volume and weight of the iron. The length of the overhangs was also found to decrease due to the change in the slot´s height.
