Abstract
One of the methods for strengthening surface layers to improve the functional characteristics of articles is nitriding in plasma of the glow discharge. It was shown that the structure non-uniformity due to the stress concentration occurring on the border nitrated layer-substrate results in deformation effects. It is known that the bands formed in deformation, the areas of localized deformation configuration and size are completely determined by the initial and the current deformation mode. In the given paper for the local quantitative estimation of deformation mode the optic-television measuring complex was used. Thus, in steel extension with the nitrated layer due to incompatibility of the elastic and the plastic deformation the cracks occur in coating that disturbs geometric non-uniformity of the sample. The trajectory of final destruction is determined by the area where the view of the initial rigid scheme of mechanical extension deformation is changed by more favorable shift scheme.
