Abstract :
Geo-ontology researches on detailed connotation and hierarchy relationships of geographic spatial information concepts at different levels and application directions in geographic information science domain, and giving semantic identification of concepts. Relational database is often used as a basis for persistent storage of ontology to facilitate rapid operations such as search and retrieval, and to utilize the benefits of relational database management system such as transaction management, security and integrity control. Consequently it is suggested that geo-ontology be stored in relational databases such as SQLServer, MySQL and Oracle. Above all this paper introduces and analyzes all kinds of storage schemas of ontology based on relational database and ontology systems adopting those storage schemas. Then this paper proposes some principles design of ontology schema stored in relational database should satisfy. Finally this paper discussed two methods of storing geo-ontology in relational database in detail.
