Abstract :
The performance of a decorrelating receiver is analyzed for a cost-effective and throughput-efficient optical orthogonal code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system. The analysis is carried out for a chip-synchronous system and the effects of the avalanche photo diode (APD) and the thermal noise as well as the multiple-access interference (MAI) are considered. Through the theoretical analysis and the numerical results, it is shown that the decorrelating receiver provides a significantly improved performance over the conventional correlation receiver
