  • Abstract
    This paper presents a stopping criterion for the optimization algorithm based on particle swarms with vorticity features: Vortex Particle Swarm Optimization (VPSO). The optimization algorithm employs translational movements for convergence and dispersion behavior to enhance exploration. These behaviors are induced by choosing the swarm parameters to change between translational (convergence) and circular movements (dispersion). Since exploration is given by the dispersion process, it is important to have a stop criterion based on swarm dispersion. The algorithm and the stopping criterion are shown using a test function in two dimensions.
