Abstract
The problem of failure detection and isolation in nonlinear uncertain dynamic systems is considered. An approach is addressed to solve this problem involving failure isolation by monitoring the residuals obtained from a bank of reduced-order observers. A procedure is given to the observer design combining nonlinear transformation of the mathematical model of system with solving optimization problems.
