Abstract
We present the results of a numerical model for the simulation of quantum dot (QD) multi-section superluminescent diodes (SLD). Model parameters are obtained by fitting experimental PI characteristics of a single section SLD. We propose a method to tune the output power in a 2-section SLD by maintaining equal ground state and excited state contributions and therefore ensuring wide emission spectra.
