  • Abstract
Metaphor is pervasive in natural language. A logic based approach for metaphor understanding is proposed. A modal operator U that is dual operator of knowing operator K in classical epistemic logic is introduced. The main novelty of this logic is that it used conceptual spaces instead of possible worlds and a series of mapping functions over conceptual spaces instead of relation accessibility. The logic system proved to be a T system. A preliminary application of the logic system is introduced in understanding Chinese metaphor with the form of "X is Y".
