Abstract :
Two topics of semiconductor laser pulses are discussed: (1) fs pulses with repetition rate flexibility were achieved by gain-switching combined with cascaded soliton compression; (2) mechanisms of chirp characteristics of mode-locked lasers are theoretically analyzed, suggesting their closer compensation
