Abstract
We have designed a fuzzy control system which receives the FROG trace as an input. It determines the measured pulse shape, compares it to the desired following pulse shape, and finally determines the relevant geometry of the compressor. If the membership function of fuzzy control is realized by a neural network, it can be combined with the FROG network and geometry of the compressor so that there can be a direct determination from the measured FROG trace. Measured pulse shape and precision of the fuzzy control system will be compared to other optimization methods. A method to determine the membership function will also be discussed
