Abstract :
TRC has achieved commercial success with HelpMate, their autonomous mobile robot courier for hospitals. Over 50 units are operational working in uncontrolled hospital environments up to 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The navigation and system technologies embodied in HelpMate are described, emphasizing the impact of real world requirements on the engineering design
