Abstract
We present a fast and accurate technique to estimate the reflectivity in fibre grating (FG) structures. This method uses the first reflection approximation for the analysis of arbitrary unidimensional refractive index variations. The proposed method allows one to treat any non-uniformity in FGs (chirps, phase shifts, taper functions, etc.)
