Abstract :
A general shipboard data collection system for the R/V Endeavor is described. The collection system is implemented on a DEC MicroVax II running VMS. The authors describe the computer software comprising the navigation data collection portion of the overall system. The navigation software collects, logs, and processes information from a diverse set of electronic navigation aids. A smoothed best guess set of navigation parameters is continuously produced using a Kalman filter system
