Abstract :
A new application which consists of using a multi-electrode semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) for in-line photodetection in the presence of bi-directional transmission is reported. Expressions for the photodetected junction voltage, crosstalk and responsivity are given. Experimental results are also reported by using a two-section SOA of 300 μm to 200μm long section
