Abstract
This work proposed an embedded data service system (EDSS) for data collection of machine tools. EDSS is embedded in machine tools as a data server and remote applications can easily acquire parameters data of machine tools without considering complex connection problems. EDSS possesses a data transmission service agent (DTSA) as an interface between EDSS and remote application programs. DTSA also provides a standard interface for remote applications or mobile devices to communicate with EDSS easily. In addition, EDSS offers a machine tool driver interface to connect with machine tools and possesses the ability of serving multiple machine tools and remote application programs. Furthermore, communication modules and driver modules in EDSS can be easily replaced according to the actual demand. EDSS plays the role of delivering data and fault messages of machine tools and is an important component for construction of the machine tool information service system (MTISS).
