  • Abstract
    A simplified energy projection algorithm for isometric volume rendering is proposed in this paper. Compared with other methods, the proposed algorithm can be largely table-driven, which makes it faster and easier to implement. A method for generating an optimal transfer function, which could be used to specify some particular rendering parameters, is provided. Also, an efficient method for building the energy footprint lookup table is provided, and three important parameters (projection kernel, kernel width and footprint table size) are examined.
