  • Abstract
This paper presents a technique for deriving the linearized Harmonic State Space model of a power electronic converter. The Harmonic State Space model, in which harmonics of state variables, inputs and outputs are posed separately in a State Space form, can be used for dynamic small signal studies, and for harmonic steady state studies. The technique can handle autonomous switches such as diodes, and controlled switches such as IGBTs and GTOs. The technique is demonstrated by modeling a Buck-Boost converter. The HSS of the Buck-Boost converter is compared to a PSCAD-EMTDC model. This is presented as a demonstration of a general technique that is extendable to common HVdc and FACTs device modeling.
