Abstract
This paper presents a comparative study of three types of thyristor-controlled impedances, i) resistance ii) inductance and ii) capacitance, on a solid-state fault current limiter (SSFLC) for electric power distribution systems. The aim of the proposed study is to assess thyristor-controlled elements of a resonant-type fault current limiter. The impedance of the SSFCL is controlled using the firing controller of thyristors. Regarding to the assessment of PCC (point of coupling connection) voltage and fault current limitability, the simulation results showed that the inductance type gives the best performance among those three impedances.
