Consumption of some species and strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) has been shown to enhance immunity in humans. In this study, the effect of dietary supplementation with Lactobacillus rhamnosus TUST006, a newly characterized LAB strain, on enhancing the function of immunological effecter cells in BALB/C mice was investigated. In order to find out which composition of fermentation liquor play important role in enhancing the function of immune regulation, the mice were divided into six groups. Then the subjects were orally administrated to BALB/c mice for 4 weeks by the method of priming. The results showed as follows: all groups of different processed fermentation liquid could enhance the immunity level; the living bacterium one among the test groups presented the significant immunity enhancement. The immune active ingredients of L.rhamnosus were not only living bacterium but also metabolites.
