  • Abstract
    This paper presents the conditioning analysis of the parameter estimation problem for a synchronous generator. The analysis is performed in a small signal model of the generator. Results demonstrate the ill conditioning of the problem. Methodologies to handle the ill conditioning are presented. The proposed methodologies represent different ways to incorporate prior information about the synchronous generator parameter estimation problem to regularize the parameter estimates
