Abstract
The critical incident technique was used to interview 18 professional virtual team workers about their experiences with effective and ineffective communication behaviors of virtual team workers. We clustered the 317 behaviors that we found into 11 categories that are critical for the success or failure of a team and/or satisfaction of team members. These categories are discussed, and suggestions are made for future research
