Abstract
The increase in supplier ability of other than original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to perform generator stator rewinds has led to utilities supplying a specification for bidding purposes. The rewind specification assures that the scope of the work is defined and all venders are bidding on the same items of supply and installation. A rewind is an excellent opportunity to apply upgrades to the stator to increase capability or to improve reliability. This paper gives the reasons for having a specification and shows in detail what a specification should cover
