  • Abstract
This paper presents the dynamic behavior of Canada´s private Gory plant induction generators in cogeneration with the Hydro-Quebec bulk system when disconnected and left on their local load network. This local network is a real 25 kV distribution grid. The main objectives of the work include the identification of technical problems that could happen on the network related to the co-generation with induction generators and the proposal of new curative or preventive strategies/which can help in improving the reliability and security of the induction generators together with the electric grid and facilitate the cogeneration. Among others interesting results obtained from the paper, simulations show that the double squirrel cage self-excited induction generator helps more than the single cage type in smoothing the voltage, the speed, active and reactive power transients. Discrepancies in the network prediction between saturated and unsaturated generators are illustrated
