Abstract :
This paper describes new technologies that enable the use of the affordable PC hardware as the computing platform for high-performance electromechanical simulation. Challenging applications such as real-time hardware-in-the-loop and mega-simulation are made possible using a combination of a PC-based simulation environment, distributed architecture, and software solutions to numerical problems that arise from fixed-time step integration. The technologies are flexible enough to allow expansion and reconfiguration, and cover the entire design process from modeling to real-time simulation or control without the engineer ever having to write code
