Abstract
This paper discuss the robustness against the machine parameters of the induction motor speed estimators based on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) and extended Kalman filter (EKF). Transient performance on a run-up process of a given motor is analyzed by using both techniques and the effects of estimator parameter variation are studied. The measured speed is compared with the one estimated on-line, the motor inputs being acquired via a data acquisition board. The performance of the two methods are compared with confidence that overall system dynamics are unchanged, since the algorithms use the same input data
