Abstract
A method of estimating fractal dimension using mathematical morphology is derived and is applied to cell image analysis. The authors´ goal was to assess the possibility of using fractal-based pattern recognition to do segmentation and classification. Preliminary results indicate that, by utilizing the fractal dimension property, the cells can be automatically classified as labeled or unlabeled cells
