Abstract :
Spherical coordinates of acoustic emission point-sources are computed using test data collected using a specialized hardware/computer and the software developed for this purpose. A data file of spherical coordinates thus obtained is used for a visual display of acoustic emission point-sources, leading to determination of developing failure patterns for thin-shell spherical structures manufactured by various methods. It is concluded that the display allows an immediate recognition of the flaw patterns developing in thin spherical structures, considerably enhancing evaluation of integrity and methods of manufacturing of thin spherical structures
