Abstract
The influence of various type of cathode on dynamic characteristics of waves of ionization is experimentally defined. It is established that at the initiation of a discharge by impulses of negative polarity the maximum of the propagation velocity of waves is observed at the cold cathode, and the best sharpening of the forward front of the output current impulse is at the heated cathode. The mechanism of the given phenomenon is considered
