Abstract :
The author introduces an alternative approach to the use of the redundant ring where nodes are grouped in terms of the level of communication between them. This grouping allows for the maximization of the ring use while using a single token as in the case of the double ring. Greater utilization of the bandwidth has been achieved as compared with the traditional double-ring reconfiguration. The tradeoff is that there is an appreciable drop in network efficiency as compared with the traditional approaches
