Abstract
A surgical assistive device for the Sleeve Gastrectomy surgery is presented in this paper. Sleeve Gastrectomy is based on reducing the size of the stomach. The purpose of this instrument is to assist surgeons obtain accurate remnant stomach volume. The paper presents the hardware and interface design of the device. The device is composed of an inflatable cylinder to be inserted in the stomach and a panel to control the volume of the cylinder. Prototype laboratory test results gave an accuracy of about 97% for different desired volumes.
