Abstract :
New and simple analytical methods for propagation constants of a high permittivity rectangular dielectric waveguide are presented. At first, we determine an infinite number of candidates for eigenvalue pair (kx,ky) by eigenvalue equation derived from main electromagnetic fields of the mode. Next, we select a correct eigenvalue pair by minimizing a discontinuity of secondary components on the boundaries. Our numerical results show a good agreement with that of previous numerical methods even for high permittivity
