Abstract :
We construct two special families of 2n codes, called 2 n prime codes and 2n extended prime codes, for all-optical code-division multiple access (AO-CDMA) applications. Such 2 n codes are obtained by “modifying” and “extending” prime codes, respectively. The cross-correlation constraint λc of 2n extended prime codes is equal to one, while λc=2 for 2n prime codes. Moreover, the bit error rates (BERs) of AO-CDMA systems using the constructed 2n codes are analyzed. It is shown that the 2n extended prime codes can support a larger number of active users than the 2n prime codes for a given BER
