Abstract :
Recent work has begun to reveal fundamental similarities between the cost functions associated with adaptation of a fractionally-spaced equalizer via (i) LMS with training and (ii) CMA without training. The bulk of this paper describes recent research that relates the local minima of the FSE-CMA cost function to Wiener receiver parameterizations for various delays. Our sense is that these relationships can be exploited to extract a set of design guidelines from a suitably interpreted emerging FSE-CMA behavior theory.
