Managerial coaching is an important management technology of human resource development to improve individual performance; yet, few empirical studies have examined the role of managerial coaching in improving employeespsila performance. Using a sample which consists of 340 managers from 38 organizations, the study explores the four types of managerial coaching behavior as following: self-awareness enlightenment, psychological support, vocational development, and role modeling. Then the study further examines the relationship between managerial coaching behaviors and employee performance. The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis show that all of four types of managerial coaching behavior have positive influences on contextual performance, and self-awareness enlightenment and role modeling have positive influences on task performance. The study proves the necessity to implement managerial coaching for the improving the employee performance.
