Abstract :
The authors describe and illustrate a hybrid simulator (HS) developed to evaluate the performance of digital control systems. Major features examined are the effect of the finite wordlength and the number system of the analog-to-digital, and digital-to-analog converters, and the digital controller; the effect of the processing time and the timing of the digital-to-analog conversion; the effect of the sampling period; and the effect of the structure of the digital controller on the whole digital control system. Those points can be evaluated at the same time. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the HS, several examples are shown
