Abstract :
Software practitioners realized the importance of software processes back in early 70´s, that software quality could only be achieved by following a disciplined way. Previous work contributed heavily to this field, but every proposed process fits only to a given scenario. Software process improvement (SPI) produced new processes based on previous one. Still SPI is ongoing, creating more diversity. This work highlights some common characteristics of a process, which if attained by some process will become fit for all size Our study shows none of the processes possess all these characteristics simultaneously. On the basis of our survey we enlisted some recommendations for a generic software process.
