Abstract
The author discusses discrete-type variable structure control and its application to self-tuning control. The proposed variable structure control is based on sliding mode control, which is common in continuous time control. First, minimum variance and generalized minimum variance control are achieved using the proposed VSS. The results are then extended to a self-tuning control. Simulation indicates the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm
