Abstract :
This paper considers the mechanism of dielectric destruction which is based on the hypothesis that service life of insulation is in inverse proportion to the insulation volume in which the field intensity supersedes any critical value of the so-called "stressed volume". The electric-condensers and cables are the typical representatives of the structures with sharply and weakly inhomogeneous fields
