Abstract
Small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMEs) in Southeast Asian (ASEAN) economies are trying to sharpen their total business capabilities by adopting technologically advanced IT programmes. With rapid growth in public education system and more focus on training programmes, the SMEs´ work force can now tap into the knowledge-based economy. There is tremendous amount of knowledge intensive activities within the multiflows of the SMEs. This paper examines how the knowledge assets within SMEs can be utilized for resources planning. It concludes with a presentation of a case study of an electronics precision engineering company adopting an integrated AI technique using the SME´s knowledge base.
