Abstract :
This paper is focused on performance optimization and parameter tuning of native ATM applications, i.e., audio and video file transfer as well as data transmission on top of ATM CBR service in the Winsock2 environment. Practical experiments are aimed at studying QoS parameters of different application classes dependent on ATM CBR peak rate and application traffic characteristics. The focus is to show the influence of ATM CBR rate on the specific application QoS parameters, i.e., frame rate of video file transfer, packet loss of audio transfer and throughput of data transmission. Diagrams describing dependencies of QoS parameters, ATM CBR rate and TSDU size are presented. Optimization of application QoS provision and ATM resource reservation considering communication parameter tuning is discussed
