Abstract :
A novel photochromic diarylethene, [1-(2,4-dimethyl-5-thiazolyl)-2-(2-methyl-4-(3-methylphenyl)-1-phenyl)] perfluorocyclopentene (1o), has been synthesized. And its photochromic and fluorescent properties were also investigated in detail. The diarylethene showed exhibited reversible photochromism, changing from colorless to yellow after irradiation with UV light in solution. The fluorescence had a remarkable initial increase with subsequent dramatic decrease with increasing concentration. In addition, optical recording using diarylethene 1c as recording medium was carried out successfully.
