Abstract
Electromagnetic (EM) field measurements were obtained near a single-stage reconnection gun accelerating a 194-gm aluminum plate. This type of EM launcher is of interest as an alternative to using explosive charges to launch a plate in the edge-on orientation. Measurements were designed to characterize the transient EM environment (EME) external to this capacitor-based EM launch system. Selected data are discussed to illustrate the time history and spatial variation of the measured EME associated with plate launch experiments
