Abstract
The distance property and good error performance of woven convolutional codes (WCCs) attract wide attention. Based on an analysis of the active distance of WCCs, the paper adopts the BCJR decoding algorithm to improve the performance; an improved interleaver, row random interleaver, is presented. Also, the BER curves of two terminate methods of encoders are compared. Simulation results show that, over AWGN channels, terminated WCCs with outer-warp give good bit error rate (BER) performance, and overcome burst errors effectively without an error floor.
