  • Abstract
The genetic algorithms (GAs), search algorithms based on the mechanics of natural selection and natural genetics, has been popular algorithms in solving endless problem in the past decades. It replaces the old algorithms that required more time to solve a problem, such as travelling salesman problem (TSP). In general, the GAs is treated as a genetic programming implemented on software. However, this paper presents a GAs for ASIC design (genetic chip). The chip functions as a basic GAs that consists of chromosome generator, fittest selector, and genetic operator. The genetic operation has the functions of mutation, crossover, and reproduction. The purpose of this design is to apply for solving problems, such as image creating and pattern matching. In this ASIC design project, the experiment is conducted according to the design flow accompanied by MAX+PLUS II Integrated Tools. The tools consist of VHDL Coding, Simulation, and Logic Synthesis. Then download the designed to test on UP-1 Board.
