Abstract :
The authors describe an approach to scientific computation on a massively parallel computing system. They designed and implemented a parallel compiler for the FORTRAN language on the Connection Machine (CM-2). The FORTRAN compiler is more portable and adjustable than CM-FORTRAN, since the compiler was written using the C++ language on the UNIX operating system. The parallel compiler was tuned for data parallel computations. Its implementation techniques and experiments are discussed
