Abstract :
The international standard for HDTV (high definition television), the MPEG2, has been established a few years ago. Some industrialized modern countries are positively developing HDTV products. But there are few scholars who made a profound analysis of the HDTV luminance signal´s three-dimensional spectrum. The author makes a detail study of them, points out the features of the three-dimensional spectrum, and presents their mathematical expressive formulas. Based on them, the author concluded that they can be used to compress the image information more effectively for a certain image subjective quality
