Abstract :
In this paper, an artificial neural network (ANN) pitch control strategy based on Auto-Regression Moving Average (ARMA) wind speed prediction model for the output power control of wind turbine double fed induction Generator system (WTDFIGS) is presented. The wind speed of the next control step is predicted by use of the ARMA model. This predicted wind speed is utilized in calculation of the pitch angle control value. In the suggested pitch angle controller, ANN is used to identify the inverse relation of the highly nonlinear DFIG system. The proposed control scheme is applied to a WTDFIG system connected to a simple power system. Excessive simulation results and comparison with a conventional controller show the effectiveness of the suggested control method.
