Abstract
This paper provides a method for direct detection time-of-flight (TOF) laser ranging system based on time delay estimation to get higher precision than conventional ranging systems. Restricted by the conversion rate of Analog-to-Digital (ADC) CMOS chip while the laser echo signal is so narrow, the precision of the laser ranging system is restricted no more than the ADC sampling period. As this problem is considered, multi-channel cross correlation time delay estimation with linear fitting correction is devised. The technique is shown here to be more precise and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
