Abstract :
Fast cell search in the 3GPP W-CDMA-FDD system is investigated under the effect of large frequency and clock offset. Large frequency and clock offset has been known to cause a devastating degradation on search performance. New methods that combine frequency and/or clock compensation with random sampling per frame (RSPF) are proposed and simulated. Numerical results show that the degradation due to frequency and clock offset over 10 ppm (parts per million) can be removed largely with the proposed methods. In particular, the method of combining clock compensation and RSPF provides a good tradeoff on performance and implementation complexity.
